    Offering Compliments May be Powerful
Who among us doesn't prefer to receive compliments? OK, some people are uncomfortable receiving compliments and respond with phrases for example "it was nothing" or "no big deal" or even an awkward "thanks." I understand that as I find myself responding that way at times. Running a business, equally as in your life, offering compliments could be powerful, and will greatly assist in helping employee motivation. For compliments to be effective, though, they have to have several components:

    1. They must be genuine and are available from the heart. Should you give compliments just to motivate employees, they are going to think your words aren't authentic, and also you won't have the value you intended.

    2. Be specific. Don't simply say "good job with the presentation." Tell them specifically think about the presentation was effective. Did they keep the audience engaged? Was the information i'm all over this? The more specific you're, the higher the likelihood they will continue doing this same behavior.

    3. Tell the recipient in the moment. Whether or not they are dressed especially nicely today, handled litigant situation masterfully, or you've noticed them focusing on improving their skills in the specific area...whatever it is, tell them right them. The strength of the compliment is in the present, not fourteen days from now when they won't even remember the things they did.

    4. Provide them with freely and frequently. You cannot use compliments once a month and hope it helps with employee motivation. You need to provide them with freely and frequently. That's not to state every single day, as well as every week. Noticing what other medication is doing and permitting them to know is impactful.

    5. Encourage others to supply compliments. It certainly is nice to hear from your boss that they think you did something wonderful. It's exciting to hear it from others...colleagues as well as other managers. If you create a culture where workers are encouraged to recognize each other's performance, it can make it effective beyond imagination.

    6. Be careful how often you compliment. Yes, it's important to recognize employment well done, however you don't wish to dilute the value of the compliment. Employee motivation will be lessened should you compliment every little thing. Recognize the big accomplishments and share your feelings about the subject.

Offering compliments can go a long way toward improving employee motivation, when they are used properly at the best time. You could have trouble accepting compliments from others so that you think it is equally challenging to provide them with. In the event you recognize yourself here, just remember: You are not complimenting on just anything, but on things that you see as significant. Start small if you need to, but start dishing out those compliments.
